As much as I like Rocky, I'm still concerned about his knees.

Apparently, that $5.96 million in cap space is burning a hole in the Redskins’ loin cloths.  (That’s an image we could live without.)

The ‘Skins are talking to linebacker Rocky McIntoshmag-glass_10x10.gif about a new deal. 

According to agent Drew Rosenhaus, who recently was hired to represent McIntosh, a meeting occurred Thursday morning at Redskins Park regarding a possible contract extension.

McIntosh is entering the final year of his four-year rookie deal.  He’s due to earn a base salary of $535,000 in 2009.  The second-round pick from the 2006 draft appeared in 16 games last season, starting 15 of them.

I, for one, am glad that the team is interested in locking up one of their own talented young players before free agency for a change.

I would hope that they are comfortable with his medical condition.

They really need Rocky to emerge as a reliable starter. The LB is not only shaky with the gaping hole at SAM right now, but aging at its core w/ Fletcher. London is pure stud, but when age catches up with him--and it will--it's probably going to happen quickly. One thing the team does NOT need is to have to go out next spring and shop for a WILL also.

Here's keeping fingers crossed the knees are sound and he becomes the player he's shown flashes of being for the next few years.
