I think the Redskins should target both James and LaBoy. Last year, the Redskins became so desperate at running back that they brought in washed-up Shaun Alexander to back up Clinton Portis. The Cowboys and Giants have tremendous depth at the running back position, but the Redskins are relying on Ladell Betts and Rock Cartwright to spell Portis. James would be a nice addition to the team. He and Portis are both former University of Miami guys, and I think he could flourish catching passes out of the backfield.
The Redskins would also be wise to pursue LaBoy. They have Brian Orakpo now, but you can't enough quality defensive ends. LaBoy played with defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth in Tennessee so they're already on the same page. LaBoy would immediately challenge for a starting job. That would also help limit the reps for aging defensive ends Phillip Daniels and Renaldo Wynn.
For the right price I can't say I'd argue w/ either, although I'm less interested in James since the team brought in the Canadian Streak (whose name escapes me at the moment) and re-signed my boy Marcus Mason. :)
What I've really been hoping is that we'll hear noises about interest in a veteran SSLB ... there have been a couple interesting names floating out there of late. I'm all for experimenting with Wilson, Orakpo, Rocky, Thomas, etc. over there, but an established veteran with legit SAM size and starting experience would go a long way toward letting me feel that side of the ball is really ready to be special.

Bringing in James would probably mean the end of Rock, unfortunately.
But, couldn't Rock still be our kickoff returner?
I suppose, but it would also imply carrying 5 RBs on the roster, which would seem a bit excessive given the rate at which we get injured at other positions.
EDIT - meant to say 5 tailbacks, but even if he was listed as FB, he would be the 3rd of those behind Sellers and that TE/H-Back we just drafted who is allegedly going to be another fullback.
And for what it's worth, I'd rather Rock than James, especially after all the QB controversy. It'd be nice if the FO showed some loyalty and respect to a modestly paid member of the team who embodies everything that's pure and right about this franchise.

I'd be more interested in Duece McAllister for that role. Betts was most unimpressive last season. I'd love to have a bruiser to come in in the 4th quarter.
