After a whirlwind 24 hours, Jay Cutler is relocating to the Windy City and Jason Campbell is still, at this moment anyway, the starting quarterback of your Washington Redskins.
Let's hear your impressions of what is, what might still be, and what could of been.
2) At the same time, I'm relieved we didn't give away all those picks.
3) I hope Colt Brennan turns out as we will probably have to address QB in next year's draft otherwise. The prospect of pinning all our hopes on yet another unproven college QB and likely having to wait a year or two to see if we made the right decision makes me slightly nauseous.
4) All kidding aside, its seems likely to me the Redskins will make some other move on or before draft day.
The fact we didn't get Cutler... The fact that we have alienated Cambell... The probability that this lights a fire under Campbell and he shows just enough this year to to show he is a "franchise QB" then leaves the Redskins because of this.
Or the probabilty that we as fans are going to have to listen to this rehashed in every pre-game, post-game and in-game commentary (an mind you it will be amplified if he is struggling) for the whole season.
Happy for Jason and hopeful he lights it up and renders moot the entire discussion.
A little guilty that as it came down to the wire yesterday, I was actually kinda pulling for Cutler to land here, even with all the risks.
Wondering if the reaction to the deal details by the local and national press, had the Redskins made the exact same deal, would have been different than the general thumbs-up tone I'm hearing this morning. And knowing damn well it would have.
Glaringly aware of the difference between how the two JC's handled the news their respective teams were considering another QB.
Probably some other stuff, but I need to hit the head, so if you'll excuse me ...
In all honesty, just fine. I feel just fine today and I slept as good last night as you can sleep with 2 and a half week old baby in the house.
Cutler's attitude had bugged me all along and I was more just a bit weary of having him in my beloved B&G. No doubt the guy is a playmaker but also little doubt is less than a class act.
Hugely relieved that we did not trade picks from the next century away for him like I was afraid we would. Let's face it, once D & V decide they want something, they will give up the farm to get it so I honestly figured it was a done deal and just a matter how many of the Skins picks between here and 2015 Denver would end up with.
A bit stunned to read reports that the deciding factor was Orton over Campbell. Granted, I am a bit prejudiced but I saw Orton play several games last year and was underwhelmed.

Considering that McDaniels also apparently valued Cassel above Cutler maybe not so much of a surprise.
Seems the dood sees things a little differently than most.
That said, I'll be shocked, shocked I tell you, if Kyle Orton is the Bronco starter come September.
Well, I'm elated that Campbell is still our QB. I'm happy we didn't let the Bronco's rook us like they did the Bears. Worried that the FO may not only have alienated Campbell but the whole team as well.
I feel kind of sick of Cerato's endless BS. One week he's committed to Campbell, next week he's trade bait, the following week it'll be something else.
But overall, I think this is probably for the best.
As much as the thought excited me, it paled in comparison to the amount of sheer dread I felt at the thought of us getting this wrong.
Kind of like the feeling we all had when we heard our new $100 million dollar man was just indicted on traffic incidents that could have landed him in jail for six months, multiplied by the feeling of us having Lance Briggs instead of Laron Landry, times the feeling of us having a broken Chad Johnson past his prime.
Bottom line, a mistake during this hand cripples us for years, and considering that it wasn't even an option a few months ago, you'll have a hard time convincing me this was a smart, well-thought out plan for managing our franchise for years to come.
And as crazy as it sounds, I still have faith in #17. :)

Bottom line, this little episode does nothing to turn the view that the Redskins are run by a couple of cutthroat bastards who really don't care how they win, and at the same time, don't really have a plan to produce a winning franchise.
Like Joe Gibbs, the truth is that Jason Campbell and Jim Zorn may well just be too damn good for the likes of Snyder and Cerrato. I've said it 100 times, we've got enough bad karma with little Satan as our owner to last us a century. I hope Campbell shows everyone this year that our front office has no idea what it's doing.
I didn't always believe that to be so. But I believe it today.

I'm one of the few left that still think Campbell can get it done. I want to see what he can do with good pass protection, some big receivers that can get open, and some time to learn Zorn's offense.
I'm also very glad that we didn't give up any more picks. You think our lines are old now...how are we ever going to get young and talented on the lines if we keep trading away our picks. I don't care if you have Joe Montana back there, you have to be able to protect him.
The reason I continue to have mixed feelings about JC here is a combination of 2 main factors.
1) I think he's badly miscast physically in the quick-read, quick-release, timing-route modified WCO. In the smashmouth, play-action, take-your-shots-downfield offense Gibbs drafted him to run, I think he could still be one helluva QB. I just can't successfuly envision him overcoming the square peg in a round hole situation Vinny for some mysterious reason decided to put him in.
2) The way the current FO build teams, from the outside in, I don't see JC as a talented enough individual playmaker to overcome the deficiencies we're likely to continue to suffer on the OL. If he had the '91 line to set up behind, sure. Behind the the aging, paper-thin line Vinny insists he make do with ... it's hard for me to see him ever really maxing out on the skill set he does have. Maybe for a few games a year, maybe even enough to be a consistently good QB, just not enough to ever take that one last step to championship level.
I continue to hope I'm just being overly pessimistic about either of those factors, but having watched as much Redskins football as I have---hell, football in general---for as long as I have, at this point I'd almost be willing to put my money where my mouth is that I'm not.
