(Pulls pin with teeth and tosses grenade in general direction of thread)

How good would Moss look playing across from Plaxico Burress assuming he doesn't spend too much time in the pokey and/or under suspension from the NFL?

Aside from the whole #1/#2 debate, Moss would be money with any credible receiving threat playing with him. Kelly and Thomas are probably going to develop too late to provide that. Plax would be a heck of a stopgap to the new guys and would provide Moss with single coverage the likes of which he probably hasn't seen since his days in NY.

(surveys carnage, turns and walks away with Incredible Hulk closing theme playing quietly in background)

No carnage from me.  What you're saying dovetails with my initial take--that Moss would one spectacular #2 with a big time #1 across from him.

Which is why the Thomas/Kelly dynamic is so key to the development of the passing game this year. If either one (or both) of those guys emerged as a double-team-worthy complement to Moss, it could be special. And Moss could be a complete beast.  At that point I'd stop worrying about determining #1 and #2 entirely---we'll call them co-#1's and live happily ever after.  Or at least until contract time rolls around.

The thought of Plax has crossed my mind too. After some thought I came to the conclusion that Plax or a guy like Plax would have been a great idea LAST year before the draft. Now I think the die has been cast at receiver and we just have to wait and see what happens. We simply have too much invested in the position to add a high ticket guy like Plax.

I’m not sure what the plan was last season taking two WRs so early in the draft anyway. It has really tied our hands. Certainly they both have talent but it’s not like we didn’t have other needs.

Plax would be a great idea, except for the whole character issue thing that I think will turn many organizations away.

plus that whole jail thing that he's got to deal with.

He's alienated the gmen which is why they cut him to begin with, and now he has no alibi in court so he could be doing some time.

The hope is that Malcomb turns into something like plax, but like Yusuf said above that may take longer than necessary to take advantage of Moss since he's in his prime right now.
