I really have no idea if Orapko was THE best pick from among the available's---I was intrigued by Robert Ayers as well---but to be able to sit here and talk about my team using a high first-round draft pick on a universally hailed, high-upside pass rushing defensive end .... well, hell yes. :)

But that 2nd rounder would be real handy right about now.....

That second rounder may have been enough to allow the Redskins to trade up for Sanchez. I much prefer Orakpo and no second rounder to Sanchez and no second rounder plus...

Yeah, now the attention turns to how much angst Jason Campbell really has about all this. If that relationship has really been poisoned we could be in for an interesting summer.

Of course ... who's to say just because Sanchez isn't going to be here, Jason is? We may not be done with that angle just yet. paranoid

As to the pick itself ... I'll admit it---I was briefly disappointed when the Jets made their move. Dont' know how much of that was competitive juices flowing as opposed to concern over the best interests of the team, but there it is.

Didn't last long, though. As the #13 kept getting closed, and names like Orapko and Ayers and Oher were still on the board, I started getting antsy all over again ... and when they literally ran to the podium with the pick (seriously, what was that?) and they said it was Orapko, I said ... well ... oh hell yes. :)

Right on. By the time pick 10 came around, I started thinking, "wow, some good players are going to be there for us."

I love the pick and I'm very pleased the FO knew when to fold the tent on trading up. Definitely concerned about what happens next with JC, but in a vacuum, I love the Orakpo pick.

At this point we just have to hope for the best with JC. If he doesn't want to be here, maybe we swing a deal with Cleveland to bring Quinn here, since the new Cleveland regime doesn't seem high on him. A Quinn/Colt QB competition could be interesting. smile

While not sold on Orakpo (not sure he won't be just as out of position in the NFCE as Taylor was) I am thrilled that we went with a line pick here. To be honest, I am a bit stunned that Vinny took a lineman in the 1st. I think this just makes the investment into Haynesworth that much better.

Without a doubt, the initial reaction to this pick is OH HELL YES !

Of course, me bing me, I never get the expatations too high on any draft pick. The thought of Haynesworth and Orakpo side by side is almost unreal, yet the variables involved keep me grounded.

Will Haynseworth live up to expatations. This is my biggest question. We've seen it before, the big payday and lack of play. Will the rookie transition quickly enough to make the starting line up for game 1.

Dont get me wrong here, I love the pick, and am a bit shocked by it. Has it finally sank in that the secondary needs the help of a pass rush. If this pans out the way we want, I expect to see a good number of picks due to QB's being hurried. Our secondary is not to shabby as it sits, and this move,along with Haynesworth could be the parts needed to make a good D outstanding.

I always love to see them address the lines with their high picks. Our successful years were built from the inside out, rather than visa versa, but we've so often gone with the "sexy" skill players since then ... with little results.
